Special Announcement

On August 9, 1971, brothers Ward and Don Mayborn opened Uncommon Market with the hope of creating a unique store that offered an eclectic selection of antiques and unique items. We helped furnish many national restaurant chains, retail stores, and residencies during the early years. Those days will always hold a special place in our hearts. We met so many great people and formed many great friendships in the beginning years.
As the years have passed by, the world has changed. In the beginning the availability of unique items were in an abundance, now, due to the internet, sourcing has become increasingly difficult. With a dwindling inventory we noticed our company pivoting. We found ourselves not only restoring our antique pieces, but also fabricating great quality period pieces for both residential and commercial clients. We’ve had the privilege of working with top restaurants such as Raising Canes, Sixty Vines, Billy Can Can, Rise Souffle and Mi Cocina just to name a few. Our team also had our hands in some great projects around the Metroplex like the Thompson Hotel and One Dallas Center. We’ve worked with great designers on commercial and residential projects.
Because of our work through fabrication we’ve decided to make a change that has been a long time coming. With the high demand for our quality fabrication and the difficulties of having a retail store, our small talented crew decided to take a step back and reevaluate. On August 9th, 2023, after 52 years we have closed our brick and mortar. This will allow our team time to focus on increasing our fabrication shop. We also will be increasing our online presence through our website and with social media.
Check our our website and let us know what you think. In the next few months we will slowly start to add inventory to our online store. Our online store will have unique items both sourced and custom made.
